But because the NRA demands those convicted of domestic violence, stalking, or abuse be allowed to keep their firearms, VAWA languishes in McConnell's "legislative graveyard."

The gun lobby wants to leave open the "boyfriend loophole," which exempts boyfriends and exes from current protections that apply only to live-in or married partners of the women they abuse. When abusers are allowed to have guns, victims of their abuse are far more likely to be killed. Mitch McConnell is selling women's lives to the gun lobby. NOW cannot and will not abide by this.
