CDC spotlights large increases in R-rated smoking in its latest surveillance report on smoking in films ([link removed])
According to the latest surveillance report on smoking in films from Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 6 of every 10 PG-13 movies (56%) showed smoking or other tobacco use from 2002 to 2019. This is a particular concern due to the established link that exposure to onscreen smoking in movies causes young people to start smoking.
