A Food Show Not About Food
In March, we hosted our second exclusive screening of “
Hard to Swallow<[link removed]>,” a new documentary series told from the perspective of Nigerian immigrant and chef Tunde Wey! Co-directed by Tunde and Theo Schear (both alums of our Creative Change Retreat), the series is a great example of the cultural interventions that TOA invests in to shift narratives and tell new stories.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Los Angeles and New York! We also want to offer special thanks to a few folks who helped make these events a success:
🎤 Our LA panel moderator,
Deniese Davis<[link removed]> of Color Creative and Reform Media
🎨 Karen Wong of
Guilty By Association<[link removed]> who helped make it happen
🥗
Hart House<[link removed]> by Kevin Hart who generously donated catering in LA
You can also help us make more events like these happen by
becoming a monthly donor to TOA<[link removed]>. We need to support more creative storytellers like Tunde and Theo whose work invites audiences to critically examine the world around us and imagine a better future. Learn more about the
cultural strategies programs we deliver<[link removed]> cost-free to artists and

set the world abuzz<[link removed]> with her latest album, "Cowboy Carter." The album reclaims the Black origins of country music, a genre whose gatekeepers—driven by racism—largely dismissed her. May the Fourth Be with You
"Star Wars" stands as a monumental force in global pop culture, captivating audiences with its sprawling universe, complex characters, and epic narratives.
Every year, May the 4th (a play on the Jedi rallying cry “May the force be with you”) serves as an
opportunity to engage audiences<[link removed]> in deeper conversations beyond the realm of entertainment. Not sure where to find the rebellion?
Read our
latest <[link removed]>
blog detailing four messaging hooks<[link removed]> you can use to talk about "Star Wars" and social justice. From the need for universal paid leave to critiquing the numerous abuses in our inhumane criminal legal system, there’s a thread in the saga you can pull to talk about any form of injustice.
