Truth Initiative® named one of the world’s most innovative companies ([link removed])

Fast Company has published its list of the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies for 2020 and named Truth Initiative second in their not-for-profit sector and No. 40 overall. The magazine says we “spent decades effectively skewering the tobacco industry,” have “smartly responded” to the youth vaping epidemic and are now “ahead of the curve of what became a national conversation about e-cigs.”

A new warning about unauthorized e-cigarettes ([link removed])

The Food and Drug Administration has issued nearly two dozen warning letters to retailers and manufacturers for illegally selling flavored cartridge-based e-cigarettes. The agency says these letters are just the first in a series of ongoing actions to combat devices being sold without premarket authorization.

Florida — The Senate passed a bill to allow cities and counties to restrict smoking in public parks. Under current law, the state controls smoking regs, thereby limiting the role of local governments.

Idaho — The state House passed a bill that would require retailers that sell e-cigarettes to be permitted through the state and inspected by the Department of Health and Welfare to ensure products aren’t sold to minors.

New Mexico —– Gov. Grisham signed into law a bill establishing a licensure process for e-cigarette and other tobacco product retailers and creating a Tobacco 21 policy.

West Virginia — The state legislature passed a bill that would move a portion of interest out of a rainy day fund and into a tobacco cessation fund which would be used by the Division for Tobacco Cessation to develop evidence-based quitting programs.
