After a Q&A session with Megan, attendees will have an opportunity to meet staff from local nonprofit members and participate in a volunteer fair. REGISTER County Approves Expanded Housing Options On March 22, the Arlington County Board voted 5-0 to approve Expanded Housing Options (EHOs) in zoning districts of the County that currently only allow for single detached homes. This concludes the multi-year Missing Middle Housing Study, which the Chamber had been involved in over the past few years. The Zoning Ordinance allows for up to 6 units to be developed on a residential lot by right. This would include duplexes, townhouses, and multiplexes with 3-6 units. Lot coverage regulations, maximum building height, and minimum setbacks for these developments are the same as what currently exists for single detached homes. The development of expanded housing options will also be constrained by a cap of 58 units per year, with certain distribution requirements. READ THE COUNTY PRESS RELEASE County Proposed FY 2024 Budget The Arlington Chamber requests that the County keep the positions of Assistant Director in Arlington Economic Development, and Associate Planner in the Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development. Retaining the Assistant Director position at the Arlington Economic Development will ensure that they have the sufficient administrative resources to achieve its goals of attracting and retaining businesses in Arlington, which has long-term positive effects on taxes and our economic growth. Keeping the Associate Planner position will also mitigate delays as the Department moves forward in significant projects such as the Future of Outdoor Dining (FOOD) Study and Plan Langston Boulevard.
