Exciting news! The New Deal for New Americans Act [[link removed]] has been reintroduced in Congress! This groundbreaking legislation—sponsored by U.S. Senator Ed Markey and Representatives Grace Meng, Pramila Jayapal, and Jesús “Chuy” García—is a game-changer for immigrants and refugees, promoting inclusion, economic growth, and civic engagement.
Some highlights of the bill include: Establishing a national Office of New Americans, reducing barriers to naturalization, protecting fee waivers and expanding reduced fee applications, promoting civic engagement through automatic voter registration of newly naturalized individuals, and increasing the refugee admissions level to 125,000 per fiscal year.
