We hope this edition of the New Pennsylvania Project eBlast finds you well as we close out Women’s History Month.
Please take a few moments to check out all the important news you can use, events happening in your neighborhood, career opportunities, and other updates.

Pennsylvania judge dismisses latest GOP mail ballot lawsuit [[link removed]] (AP)
A commonwealth judge yesterday dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Republican National Committee that had sought to prevent counties from helping voters ensure their ballots count by fixing minor, technical deficiencies on mail-in ballot envelopes.

Policy Corner
Pennsylvania’s fiscal year begins July 1 and ends June 30 the following year. To ensure that funding for all state programs continues, the budget should be completed and signed by the Governor by midnight on June 30.
Pennsylvania Budget Process and Timeline:
1.
October:
State
agencies
submit
their
budget
requests
to
the
Governor’s
budget
office.
2.
October
-
January:
The
Governor’s
budget
office
and
other
key
staff
develop
a
budget
proposal.
3.
Beginning
of
February/March:
Governor
addresses
the
PA
General
Assembly
with
their
budget
speech
releasing
the
budget
proposal
that
highlights
aspects
of
their
proposed
budget
along
with
priorities
for
the
Commonwealth
for
the
next
fiscal
year.
4.
End
of
February
-
March:
The
PA
House
of
Representatives
and
Senate
hold
several
weeks
of
appropriations
hearings
with
all
state
agencies
about
the
details
of
their
agency’s
proposed
budget.
5.
April/May:
A
budget
is
drafted
and
introduced
as
a
bill
by
the
PA
General
Assembly
and
goes
through
the
normal
legislative
process.
After the General Assembly passes the budget bill, the Governor has the opportunity to sign the bill, veto the bill, permit the bill to become law without signing it, or line-item veto particular items.
