LIFT the BAR, Bilingual Training, and Health Coverage
Dear John,
This week we’re sharing some details on our upcoming Lift the Bar Act week of action and a final reminder to register for our bilingual health promoters training next week. Read on to learn more.
Updates: Lift the Bar Act
PIF anticipates the reintroduction of the LIFT the BAR Act this spring. This landmark legislation restores access to programs like Medicaid, CHIP, and SNAP, by removing the five-year bar and other barriers that deny critical care and aid to people who are lawfully present. We don’t know yet exactly when the LIFT the BAR Act will be reintroduced–so in the meantime, here’s the quick snapshot:

We’re excited about next week’s free health promoters training with PIF member Clinica Romero [[link removed]] on COVID and flu vaccine outreach. Participants will work with seasoned promoters and a member of the PIF team, exploring strategies to address immigration-related vaccination concerns, as well as field-tested approaches to encourage immigrant families to get vaccinated. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. These interactive workshops are available in Spanish and English. Click the buttons below to register for either or both. [[link removed]]

#ProtectFamilies: 4 Steps Your State Can Take
Starting in April, states will begin re-assessing Medicaid eligibility for the first time since 2020. The US government estimates 18 million people could lose Medicaid. Immigrant families face additional barriers, but states can do a lot to #ProtectFamilies. [[link removed]]
We recently shared four ideas [[link removed]] on Twitter. Please check those out and encourage your state’s leaders to implement all four as a good start. And please retweet to help us get the word.
