After a Q&A session with Megan, attendees will have an opportunity to meet staff from local nonprofit members and participate in a volunteer fair. REGISTER   Arlington Chamber Volunteer Day Friday, April 21 | 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is seeking individuals and teams of enthusiastic volunteers to participate in Arlington Chamber Volunteer Day, an annual tradition that engages businesses and individuals in rewarding half-day service projects throughout the community. Produced by the Chamber's Community Action Committee, Arlington Chamber Volunteer Day connects Arlington businesses to Chamber member nonprofits. Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals and groups of all sizes! We have a number of wonderful volunteer opportunities available! Projects range from assisting seniors declutter their homes and providing graphic design support, to making food baskets for the community and organizing classrooms to prepare for summer camp. REGISTER   Advocacy Update The Arlington County Board adopted amendments to the Zoning Ordinance at their Saturday meeting permitting the creation of medical and dental laboratories, flexible research spaces, and audio-visual broadcasting spaces in commercial buildings. The Chamber strongly supported these amendments, which are part of the Commercial Market Resiliency Initiative. The Initiative is a welcomed part of reimagining the Zoning Ordinance to reflect the businesses of the 21st century and make Arlington more nimble in attracting businesses in sectors that did not exist when the Zoning Ordinance was first written. Additionally, the Board heard public speakers regarding the Missing Middle Housing Ordinance. The Board will meet Tuesday evening to move towards a final vote on the ordinance. The Chamber is supportive of the overall goals of the Ordinance, and gave testimony urging the Board not to adopt an annual cap on the number of permits, as we are concerned by the potential negative effects on development.
