We are very excited to announce that The Hunt Institute’s President & CEO Dr. Javaid Siddiqi will be participating in a featured session today at SXSW EDU alongside U.S. Department of Education Secretary Dr. Miguel A. Cardona ([link removed]) and President of Paul Quinn College Dr. Michael Sorrell ([link removed]) on the subject of diversifying the teacher pipeline.

SXSW EDU ([link removed]) has established itself as one of the biggest education events of the year and we look forward to elevating the work we're doing at The Hunt Institute, particularly with the One Million Teachers of Color campaign ([link removed]) , to a highly engaged national audience. 2023 Ohio Legislators Retreat
In partnership with Ohio Senator Andrew Brenner and Representative Gayle Manning, we hosted the Ohio Legislators Retreat ([link removed]) on February 23-24, 2023, in Columbus, OH. Over the course of two days, attendees engaged in constructive conversations with leading experts and practitioners, as well as legislative leaders from the Ohio General Assembly.

The Illinois Educator Diversity Summit, hosted in partnership with The Honorable Juliana Stratton, Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, will provide participants with opportunities to engage in constructive conversations about diversifying the Illinois educator workforce with leading experts and practitioners from Illinois and other parts of the country.

** The Foundations of Early Literacy as a Tool for Equity

In 2019, before the pandemic, only half of 3rd through 5th graders were reading on grade level according to the ELA MCAS, highlighting the persistent opportunity gaps where our system failed to reach early learners.
