Here are some updates from the last few days.

Today, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held oral argument in a case about a Texas law that requires voters to register to vote with a “wet signature,” meaning written with pen on paper. Read a summary of the argument here. [link removed]

Also today, the secretaries of state of Missouri, Florida and West Virginia withdrew from the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), a nonprofit organization that allows states to share information to help maintain accurate voter rolls. [link removed]

On Friday, March 3, the pro-voting parties submitted their briefs in two previously decided cases, Holmes v. Moore and Harper v. Hall, that the North Carolina Supreme Court’s newly elected GOP majority agreed to rehear. The cases deal with a photo ID law and partisan gerrymandering, respectively. [link removed]

Here’s what to expect coming up.

Tomorrow, a state court in Tennessee will hold a hearing on motions for summary judgment in a case challenging the state’s new state House and Senate maps drawn with 2020 census data. Both sides have asked the court to rule in their favor without going to trial. [link removed]
