Hi John,
I don’t know about you, but things are feeling a bit grim right now. Millions of people are being forced to choose between heating and eating this winter due to inadequate government support.
On the 1st of April, people across the UK are going to lobby their MPs to call for proper funding for nationwide energy efficiency in homes to lower bills and tackle the climate crisis. Can you join them?
Join mass lobby: act.gp/ML1
British homes are the worst insulated in Western Europe and our government has failed to fund a nationwide insulation programme to help people, and the planet. [1]
It’s costing lives. Barbara Bolton, 87 years old from Manchester, passed away from hypothermia in January, her doctor said her illness was "related to her not being able to afford heating" [2]. She’s not alone. Elderly people and people with disabilities on average have much higher energy costs.[3] As people suffer, fossil fuel companies are raking in record profits - enough is enough!
So far, the government has failed to do the quickest and cheapest thing to help lower bills - they’ve not properly insulated homes or swapped gas boilers for heat pumps. If they did, the average household would save £1800 a year! [4]
Together we can change this. Find your nearest event and get involved in the mass lobby on April 1st.

Warm This Winter is a coalition of 40 charities, including Fuel Poverty Action, 350.org, Women’s Institute, and Greenpeace. Together we’re mobilizing people nationwide to take part in this mass lobby on the 1st April - the day our energy bills could rise yet again.
We will be calling on our MPs to do whatever they can to insulate people’s homes and fix our energy system so it’s cheaper and greener.
If there isn’t an event targeting your MP and you would like to add your support to the campaign, please make your own event.

If you feel daunted with setting up your own event don’t worry! There's a step by step guide on the Warm This Winter page so it’s quick and easy to do (link in Notes below). [5] You can also print out your own poster to show your support for the campaign (link in Notes below). [6]
Nurses, teachers and transport workers are all striking - there’s a clear call for change in society for the better right now. By pulling together we can match this momentum and make a real difference to people's daily lives and the future of our planet.
Thank you for everything you do,
Jack Bullett

P.S. The government's failure to make our homes more energy efficient is likely costing you over around £1800 every year. Imagine what you could do with that money. We’ve made an online calculator which quickly tells you how much lower your energy bills would be if the government properly insulated homes and swapped gas boilers for heat pumps.
