British homes are the worst insulated in Western Europe and our government has failed to fund a nationwide insulation programme to help people, and the planet. [1]
It’s costing lives. Barbara Bolton, 87 years old from Manchester, passed away from hypothermia in January, her doctor said her illness was "related to her not being able to afford heating" [2]. She’s not alone. Elderly people and people with disabilities on average have much higher energy costs. [3] As people suffer, fossil fuel companies are raking in record profits - enough is
enough!
So far, the government has failed to do the quickest and cheapest thing to help lower bills - they’ve not properly insulated homes or swapped gas boilers for heat pumps. If they did, the average household would save £1800 a year! [4]
