Candidate Spotlight:
Senator Samra Brouk was elected to represent New York’s 55th Senate District in November of 2020, making her the first Black woman from upstate New York, and the first Black person from the greater Rochester area, to be elected to the New York State Senate. In November 2022, she was re-elected for a second term.
Samra has focused on sponsoring bills that expanded healthcare access and has made improving access to lifesaving resources a legislative priority. She is no stranger to serving her community.
