Keep reading to learn more about what is happening at New Politics ⬇ As we wrap up Black History Month, we wanted to spotlight one of our inspiring servant leaders, Mayor Phillip Jones. Phillip was recently elected as the youngest mayor of Newport News, Virginia. He was sworn in on January 10th and his goals for the city are to improve education, infrastructure, housing, and invest in public safety. Jennifer Marshall is best known as the actress who plays Max’s mother on Stranger Things, but she’s also a Navy vet, a mother of four, a licensed private investigator, and an alum of Answering the Call. In this episode of the New Politics Podcast, she talks about her service journey and how she manages to stay grounded as a servant leader in the world of entertainment. Senator Samra Brouk was elected to represent New York’s 55th Senate District in November of 2020, making her the first Black woman from upstate New York, and the first Black person from the greater Rochester area, to be elected to the New York State Senate. In November 2022, she was re-elected for a second term. Samra has focused on sponsoring bills that expanded healthcare access and has made improving access to lifesaving resources a legislative priority. She is no stranger to serving her community.
