Hi John,

As we speak, world governments are meeting to negotiate a Global Ocean Treaty that would help protect at least 30% of the world's oceans by 2030. If politicians get this right, it will help safeguard marine life and be the biggest conservation victory for a generation.⁣

However, countries like the UK are dragging their feet at the negotiations -- risking any meaningful outcome. This is a critical moment for the future of our oceans and we cannot afford to stay silent.

With just one week of negotiations left, can you help pile on the pressure by publicly tweeting Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to let him know that we are watching and waiting for him to deliver a strong Global Ocean Treaty?

We got close to a Global Ocean Treaty at the last round of UN negotiations in August. However, talks failed because governments like the UK, EU and US brought too little to the table, too late.

And while governments delay, destructive industries continue to harm the oceans -- impacting the billions of people who rely on the oceans and deepening the climate crisis.

This must be the final rounds of talks. The UK has already said they support the 30 x 30 target. Now they must put their words into action and commit to doing everything in their power to ensure the Treaty is agreed.

We need to publicly expose the risk of failure and ramp up the pressure on them to do everything possible to win a strong ocean treaty. The government needs to know that the public is watching them and holding them accountable. Will you publicly call our Foreign Secretary James Cleverly?

Thanks so much for your ongoing help to protect the oceans. We will update you once we know the outcomes of the talks.

Thanks for all that you do
