In Syria, nearly 11 million people have been affected by the earthquake
and 4 million of them in Northwest Syria rely on aid agencies for basic
humanitarian needs like clean water and food. Mercy Corps’ staff and
partners currently reach about 300,000 people in the region.

Mercy Corps’ initial response is focused on getting urgently needed items
to people whose homes have been destroyed. We are distributing sheets,
solar lamps, jerrycans, blankets, mats, mattresses, and hygiene kits.

Corps teams are working to repair earthquake damage to boreholes that
supply clean water, while continuing to provide drinking water via trucks
