Many Medicare Recipients Overlook Key Support; Nurses Can Help
Many older adults with limited incomes do not realize that they are eligible for the Medicare Savings Programs, which covers Medicare premiums, deductibles, co-payments, and other out-of-pocket costs. A new report from the Public Policy Institute at AARP offers several ideas to address the enrollment challenge. One tactic for increasing enrollment rates: using trusted sources, such as nurses, to spread the word.

Promising Collaboration Shows How Health Equity Can Be Achieved
The Leonard A. Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program, announced in February 2022, is a model of how to build a primary care workforce ready to take on the challenge of health equity. The Campaign&rsquo;s Strategic Advisory Committee chair, Antonia M. Villarruel, PhD, RN, FAAN, is an author of a new commentary on the program, concluding that tuition to nurse practitioner students in exchange for their practicing in community-based centers represents an important first step to better health for all.

The National Council on Aging wants to encourage people who are older or have disabilities to get COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, and is offering grants to help make that happen.
