Friend —

The headlines are shocking — but if you can imagine, what I've seen during my time in Türkiye is even more heartbreaking.

No report can fully capture the loss, pain, and ongoing crisis happening on the ground. Over 41,000 people have lost their lives near the Syria–Türkiye border, making this the deadliest earthquake in both countries in modern history.

Fortunately, thanks to your fellow IRC supporters who have rushed emergency support, we have begun our cash distribution program and launched several mobile health clinics. But the need is immeasurable and compounding by the hour. Friend, will you please make a gift to support our response efforts?

P.S. I wanted to share some photos I took this week during my visit to Gaziantep, one of the cities in Türkiye most impacted by the earthquake. Many of the people I met are living in tents, in need of immediate resources, and are struggling to figure out what is next.
Hundreds of thousands of people in Türkiye alone are homeless and are living in makeshift shelters, pictured above.
Over 45,000 buildings have been destroyed or heavily damaged, like the one pictured above.
