John,
It's not possible to decouple public health, social justice, and
climate change-these defining issues of our time are
inextricably linked. This month, we explore projects and programs that
exemplify how our park and conservation projects deliver overlapping
benefits to communities where we work.

Green Spaces Are the Ultimate Multitaskers
Green spaces are good for our mental and physical health. They have
the ability to fight climate change by capturing rainwater, improving
air quality, and cooling our cities. But they're also excellent at
facilitating social and environmental justice. Check out some TPL
projects that truly do it all.

Conserving California's Coast: Deer Creek Beach
After decades of legal wrangling over a 2-mile stretch of coastline near Malibu, Trust for Public Land has worked to permanently protect 1,280 acres of sage-covered slopes along the Pacific Coast Highway. With help from generous donors, the property could soon become part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, ensuring that southern Californians have unbroken access to this breathtaking coastal habitat.

Where Climate Action and Environmental Justice Meet

Inequitable access to nearby parks makes some communities more
vulnerable to climate and public health risks than others. We can fix
that.

The Chattahoochee RiverLands will become Georgia's largest
network of parks and trails-100 miles running through the heart
of one of America's mightiest metro regions. This spring
we'll break ground on a new camp-and-paddle trail, where
visitors can experience 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River over four
days of paddling.
Ways to Give
Protect Public Lands Now and Forever
Public lands sustain us. And it's up to us to sustain them.
Start 2023 off by protecting public lands for future generations and
creating parks where they're needed most. Your support is
critical to permanently protecting 1 million acres of land and 1,000
miles of rivers and streams, creating 35 new high-quality parks, and
connecting 1,000 miles of trails by 2025.

Across the country, local trails connect people to nature, recreation,
schools, workplaces, and their broader neighborhood. But not every
community has equitable access to trails. Help connect people to
nature and each other: transform the future of our trails by sending a
