Meet the babies who thrived in 2019

Each year, the lives of 2.5 million babies end too soon because they lack quality care. To show what can happen when things go right, UNICEF wants you to meet four healthy babies who made it to their first birthday and are getting the chance too many other children don't.

Promoting peace through video games

Lual Mayen's life changed forever when, at 7 years old, he saw his first computer. A former refugee from South Sudan, he is now a game developer in Washington, D.C. His new game "Salaam," which means "peace" in Arabic, was released last month. Lual hopes the game will help raise awareness and empathy for others trying to escape conflict.
