Washington, D.C. – As a new member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I was selected to serve on the Subcommittees on Tax and Oversight. We just launched a new tool to allow IRS whistleblowers to communicate confidentially about misconduct at the agency. This tool is just one of the many ways we plan to conduct oversight of the IRS. On Monday, I toured Lighthouse for the Blind in Fort Worth, which gives no charge prescription glasses made by visually impaired employees to children and adults–including veterans--who are in need. Check out their new Braille friendly mural! I also met with the talented MarkX robotics team in Coppell. On Tuesday, I joined my colleagues to call out President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas for their narco slavery support programs, which have given Mexican drug cartels control of our border and brought us nothing but chaos. Meanwhile, Biden and Mayorkas continue to demonize the brave men and women of ICE and CBP. It’s time to hold the Biden Administration accountable for the crisis at our southern border. The new House Republican majority will not rest while Biden’s era of narco slavery flourishes in America. Watch my full remarks here. Along with my Republican colleagues from Texas, I've requested a meeting with President Biden to discuss the border crisis and the solutions we’ve proposed. You can read our full letter here. I urge my Democratic colleagues to work with us to pass the Texas Border Plan, a four-pronged approach to regain control of our southern border. As part of my commitment to our nation's energy independence, I am proud to support H.R. 21, the Strategic Production Response Act. Releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is not the way to lower gas prices. Hometown Hero of the Week Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Nicole Maucere Jackson, founder of Fairy Godmothers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Fairy Godmothers serves the community by providing widowed and single parents with presents during the holiday season. I want to thank Nicole for going above and beyond to serve our community through her thoughtful leadership. Rep.
