significant global loss of fruit, vegetable, and nut production. Without access
to these vital crops and a healthy diet, people could be at higher risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and even cancer, according to the study.

Bees are a canary in the coal mine, signaling that the use of toxic pesticides
in agriculture is on a deadly track. If our bee populations continue to

[[link removed]]Bees and other pollinators are vital to the ecosystems they inhabit. You see,
nearly 90% of wild flowering plant species on the planet require pollinators to
aid in reproduction. Many of these plants provide crucial habitat and food for
countless other species. It’s imperative for bees to not only survive but to
thrive.

But many pollinators are in a terrifying downward spiral that shows no signs of
stopping. Research points to pesticides called neonics as a leading cause of
massive bee declines. The most widely used pesticides in the world, neonics have made U.S. agriculture nearly 50 times more toxic to insects. Neonics attack bees’ nervous systems and can harm their ability to navigate,
find food, fight pests and diseases, and even reproduce!

Even honeybees are seeing increasing declines. In the past, annual winter die-offs in the U.S. would come in at around 15%.
Now, they are reaching 30-50% -- in some cases, up to 90%!

The “insect apocalypse” will be here faster than we realize if we don’t act now.

While the EU has already taken steps to protect pollinator health by banning the
worst neonics, the EPA is set to actually approve these bee-killing neonics for another 15
years, despite citing “ecological risks of concern, particularly to pollinators.”
States such as Connecticut and New Jersey have restricted neonics -- and yet the
federal government still plans to permit the widespread national use of these
toxic pesticides, putting corporate interests above pollinators and our health.

Meanwhile, scientists say that 40% of insect pollinators like bees are dangerously close to extinction -- so we must act now to stop bee-killing pesticides from threatening the
survival of these fragile species.
