A Pennsylvania court denied state Rep. Bryan Cutler’s (R) request to block the Allegheny County Board of Elections and Pennsylvania Department of State from holding special elections for three state House vacancies. The elections, scheduled for Feb. 7, will go forward. [link removed]
Republicans in Congress announced legislation to overturn a Washington, D.C. Council law to allow noncitizen legal residents to vote in local elections. Under the District of Columbia’s Home Rule Act, Congress reviews all legislation passed by the council. [link removed]
Republican lawmakers in at least three states are already looking to make the ballot initiative process more difficult. These proposals build on recent momentum to curtail voters’ power at the ballot box. [link removed]
Lycoming County, Pennsylvania completed a hand recount of 2020 election results. The recount did not find any major discrepancies. [link removed]
