This Week: At A Glance






Monday, Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-02) and members of the incoming 118th Congress
headed back to Washington D.C. Like Ashley, many folks spent the day moving
into new offices in preparation for the start of the new Congress.

Tuesday, Senator Katie Boyd Britt (AL) was sworn in to the U.S. Senate. Katie
is the first woman to be elected to the Senate from Alabama and is the youngest
woman in the chamber.

Also Tuesday, House members-elect like Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR-05) gathered
with family members in hopes of electing a Speaker of the House and being sworn
in. Members have still not been able to reach an agreement on the Speaker and
until they do, they will not be sworn in.

Plus, Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-45) released an op-ed laying out her priorities
and commitment to her constituents.

Wednesday, Rep-elect Jen Kiggans (VA-02) also released an op-ed laying out a
few of her priorities. The former Navy helicopter pilot is planning to "always
speak loudly for our military community" and is "ready to be a strong voice for
them in Congress." As a nurse practitioner, Jen will also focus on health
issue, especially expanding access to mental health care.Click below to learn

Thursday, Sen. Joni Ernst (IA) headed back to Iowa to meet with constituents
and discuss top issues in the upcoming 2023 Farm Bill.
