Dear friends,

As we near the end of 2022 and prepare for the start of a new year, I write to you today with deep gratitude and pride for all we have accomplished together during the past twelve months.

This year has certainly not been easy. It began with a shocking wave of COVID-19, a devastating cyclone in Malawi, and the passing of our beloved friend and Co-Founder, Dr. Paul Farmer. Then, together we faced natural disasters, cholera outbreaks, political and civil unrest, climate change-induced droughts and food crises, to name just a few challenges.

And yet, a small glimpse into some of the achievements we've made together reminds me of the power of the PIH community.

Together in 2022, we confronted infectious diseases like cholera, COVID-19, and TB—stopping the spread and saving lives. We deepened our commitment to maternal and child health by continuing construction of the game-changing Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone, and opening a new NICU in Rwanda.

We formally launched a scholarship fund in Paul's honor to cover tuition for 3,000 medical students at PIH’s University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda free of charge, used artificial intelligence to catch TB earlier than ever before—all while serving as a trusted backbone of health systems around the world

These are a selection of advances that have been most inspiring to me. The truth is, everywhere PIHers are working to provide health care as a human right, progress is being made—month-by-month, minute-by-minute.

When I step back and see the full expanse of our efforts, I can’t help but be filled with hope for our shared future.

I invite you to contribute to this hope, and to end 2022 with an act of care. Please donate $215  now to be triple-matched.
