US aid to Ukraine could exceed $100 billion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a visit to Washington on Wednesday. He met with President Biden and delivered a speech before a joint session of Congress. There, he made his case for an additional $45 billion in aid. Watch Zelenskyy's speech to Congress ([link removed]) .

The US has sent $65 billion in aid to Ukraine since March.

On Wednesday, the Biden administration committed to a $1.85 billion military bill. That package includes a Patriot missile defense system for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy appealed, “We have artillery, yes. Thank you. We have it. Is it enough? Honestly, not really. To ensure Bakhmut is not just a stronghold that holds back the Russian army, but for the Russian army to completely pull out, more cannons and shells are needed.”

If the spending package passes, US aid to Ukraine will total over $100 billion.

Do you support increasing military and foreign aid to Ukraine, or should the US pull back its funding?

We want your opinion! Our survey on National Security & Foreign Policy ([link removed]) asks for your views on a number of things, including foreign aid.

You'll be asked for your belief on whether “foreign aid should be tailored to directly further US interests,” or does it “tend to enrich ruling elites while doing little to help the rest of society”? Would it be better if every individual citizen could decide whether they wanted to donate or volunteer?

Zelenskyy also asked Congress to impose sanctions on Russia: “You can strengthen sanctions to make Russia feel how ruinous its aggression truly is. It is in your power, really, to help us bring to justice everyone who started this unprovoked and criminal war.”

The Survey addresses this, as well – asking whether you believe “sanctions remove our moral endorsement of bad regimes and put political pressure on dictators,” or if “they harm the citizens of a targeted nation while entrenching bad leaders in power”?
