Join us for 5!

Join us for five, fun-filled weeks of FREE interactive outdoor pop-up reading and numeracy camps with stories, activities, games, music and art, in five of Nottingham citys Green Flag parks.

Nottingham City Libraries are super excited to be hosting our special outdoor sessions for *StoryParks* over the summer with a library session each day over 5 parks.

There will be lots of activities for children and families to enjoy such as stories, games, number trails, treasure hunts, colouring, wordsearches and much more!



Join us on:


* Mondays at *The Forest Recreation Ground*, 1pm - 3pm
* Tuesdays at *Vernon Park*, 10.30am - 12.30pm
* Wednesdays at *Highfields Park*, 11am - 1pm
* Thursday at *Wollaton Park*, 11am - 1pm
* Fridays at *Woodthorpe Grange Park*, 1pm - 3pm

Storyparks will take place from Monday 29 July through to Saturday 31 August 2019.

Storyparks dens will be available during park opening times, with volunteers and staff available on site 10am-3pm Monday-Friday with lots of other activities. At weekends, you can still drop by the dens to access books and self-led activities for children and families to enjoy.

Let us help you find out more about your past with our free family history drop in sessions.

Anyone with family history questions are welcome, whether you are just starting or are already doing your research. Come along to search "Find My Past" and "British Library Newspapers" online, or look through our books and magazines on a range of family history related subjects.

Sessions run on the first Wednesday of every month, 10am to 12pm, in the Local Studies Library, Nottingham Central Library [ [link removed] ].The next sessions will be on *Wednesday 7 August*and *Wednesday 4 September.*

Library talks this month

To mark the centenary of his birth and celebrate Stanley Middletons contribution to Nottingham's literature, local publishers, Shoestring Press are launching "Poetry and Old Age", a selection of Stanley Middleton's poems.

The book launch will take place at Sherwood Library at 12pm, and will continue with a walk to Stanley's former home at 42, Caledon Road, Sherwood where a memorial plaque will be unveiled at 1pm.

This free event takes place on Thursday 1st August atSherwood Library [ [link removed] ]with refreshments from 11.30am.

We Will Remember Them

Learn about the hidden histories of soldiers from Africa, the Caribbean and South Asia as PanyaBanjoko delivers a talk on the contribution made by the British West Indian Regiment to the First World War.

Panya Banjoko is a writer and poet who has performed widely, including the 2012 Olympic Games and is Founder/Director of Nottingham Black Archive.
