Urban Orchard-in a community along the Los Angeles River
that's long been neglected.

Once fully funded and complete,
residents in South Gate-who previously had limited access to
parks and green spaces near their homes-will enjoy the beauty of
the Urban Orchard, including:

* Seven acres of parkland with walking/running/biking trails,
grassy fields, and wetlands that will filter polluted water to
be reused on-site;

* Two hundred fruit trees and community vegetable gardens to
nourish the community;
* Thirty long-term job opportunities for local youth.
