Dear Maine Conservation Voter,

In this season of giving, we're excited to share this opportunity to support the exciting work happening at the Community Organizing Alliance [[link removed]] (COA).

COA, led by Safiya Khalid, is a newly created organization that seeks to center the experiences and voices of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) to be civically engaged and involved in their communities. Formed in 2022, COA aspires to create an inclusive democracy where all individuals regardless of nationality and background are heard and empowered.

With thanks,

Team MCV

Thank You!

Since the launch of Community Organizing Alliance (COA) seven months ago, we've completed three LEO program [[link removed]] cohorts that have enrolled over 50 BIPOC young adults! Additionally, we have collaborated and partnered with community organizations to organize community events and activities such as the Back to School event. As the Founder Safiya Khalid intended, COA increased voter turnout in the 2022 midterm elections. COA and its volunteers knocked on over 1,000 doors and called over 8,000 voters in the state. Although it may seem like we’ve done a lot, we've only scratched the surface of creating an equitable, just Maine for all! We couldn't have done it without the help of contributions, volunteers, and connections!

Recap of our LEO programs and workshops...

September cohort held in Lewiston where young adults in the community signed up to participant in the LEO program! Our focus group discussed community issues ranging from workforce development, youth programming , affordable housing engaged in workshops, training and more!

Partnered with New Ventures Maine to host a workshop on resume, cover letter and importance of networking! Workforce development has become a top priority for our members and we must provide skills, tools and trainings that enable them to seek employment and career opportunities.

Let’s celebrate a wonderful November cohort held in Portland, Maine! We’ve had participants from the Greater Portland Area engage in focus groups, community needs assessments, learned about community organizing, civic engagement, and more! This November cohort was sponsored by our partner, Androscoggin Bank!

Please consider donating [[link removed]] to support the LEO program and it’s participants!
