Dear friend of press freedom,
This chance may not come again for many years.
We are furiously making a last-minute push to get Congress to pass the PRESS Act ([link removed]) , which would finally protect journalists from surveillance or the threat of arrest if they don’t reveal their sources.
Can you donate $25, $50, or $100 to Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) ([link removed]) to help us make our final push?
This is the kind of advocacy that we do best. Through coalition building and grassroots organizing, we are on the verge of changing the future of press freedom. You can help us shape that future. ([link removed])
Help us continue our fight for systemic change ([link removed])

"The PRESS Act would be the most important press freedom legislation to pass Congress in modern history. It would finally allow journalists to do their jobs without being spied on or threatened with arrest for not burning their sources,” said FPF Advocacy Director Seth Stern.
------------------------------------------------------------
Following our lead, other civil liberties heavyweights have now joined our efforts ([link removed]) urging politicians across the spectrum to help pass the PRESS Act — and support is traveling fast:
* Our Advocacy Director Seth Stern ([link removed]) and FPF board member John Cusack pushed the powerful Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin ([link removed]) to support the PRESS Act in compelling op-eds.
* Sen. Dick Durbin responded in the Chicago Sun-Times. He said he “could not agree with [us] more” and came out in strong support of the bill. ([link removed])
* We called on Sen. Mike Lee to support the PRESS Act in the Salt Lake Tribune ([link removed]) and he responded, becoming the lead Republican co-sponsor of the bill. Here’s why all Republicans should support the PRESS Act ([link removed]) .
* We organized nearly 40 press rights and civil liberties organizations to urge Sen. Chuck Schumer to help pass the PRESS Act ([link removed]) .
Support FPF’s fight to protect journalists ([link removed])
Here’s how YOU can help: Tell Schumer to pass the PRESS Act and stop the government from spying on journalists ([link removed]) , donate to FPF today so we can continue this work ([link removed]) , and share our donation link ([link removed]) on social media to help us multiply our ask many times over.
Thank you, again, for all you do to help protect press freedom.
All the best,
Trevor Timm
