President Biden just signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law, ensuring that same-sex marriages will be respected in every state, even if the Supreme Court were to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges .

Justice Clarence Thomas specifically called for the Court to “reconsider” the Obergefell decision, which required all states to allow gay marriage.

By enacting the Respect For Marriage Act, Democrats have ensured that same-sex marriages will still be recognized if Justice Thomas gets his way.
