*2.??Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee is accepting membership applications through Jan. 31*________________________________________________________________________

The IRS is seeking qualified applicants for nomination to the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee [ [link removed] ] (ETAAC), an organized public forum for discussion of issues in electronic tax administration, such as prevention of identity theft and refund fraud. The IRS is looking for qualified individuals who will serve three-year terms beginning in September 2023. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2023. Your clients who earn income from selling goods or providing services may soon receive Form 1099-K, Payment Card and Third-Party Network Transactions. Form 1099-K will be sent to individuals who had transactions of more than $600 in 2022. Information on Understanding Your Form 1099-K [ [link removed] ] is now available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese and Haitian Creole.

*6.??Treasury, IRS propose regulations identifying syndicated conservation easement transactions as abusive tax transactions*________________________________________________________________________

The Treasury Department and the IRS recently issued proposed regulations [ [link removed] ] identifying certain syndicated conservation easement (SCE) transactions as "listed transactions" ? abusive tax transactions that must be reported to the IRS. In these transactions, investors typically acquire an interest in a partnership that owns land and then claim an inflated charitable contribution deduction based on a grossly overvalued appraisal when the partnership donates a conservation easement on the land.
