1.??Get ready for taxes: What?s new, what to consider when filing in 2023 The IRS encourages taxpayers and their tax professionals to take important actions now to help them file their 2022 federal tax returns. Visit IRS.gov for a list of what?s new and some key items for taxpayers to consider before they file next year. This news release is also available in Spanish and Simplified Chinese. 2.??Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee is accepting membership applications through Jan. 31 The IRS is seeking qualified applicants for nomination to the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC), an organized public forum for discussion of issues in electronic tax administration, such as prevention of identity theft and refund fraud. The IRS is looking for qualified individuals who will serve three-year terms beginning in September 2023. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2023. For more information about ETAAC, the application process and qualification criteria, visit IRS.gov/etaac. 3.? Form 1099-K information now available in multiple languages Your clients who earn income from selling goods or providing services may soon receive Form 1099-K, Payment Card and Third-Party Network Transactions. Form 1099-K will be sent to individuals who had transactions of more than $600 in 2022. Information on Understanding Your Form 1099-K is now available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese and Haitian Creole. 4.??Community and bilingual volunteers needed to provide free tax help in 2023 The IRS is looking for volunteers to train for the upcoming filing season to provide free tax help in communities across the country. Bilingual volunteers are particularly needed. Visit IRS.gov for more information. This news release is also available in Spanish and Simplified Chinese. 5.??Help the IRS improve the findability of content on IRS.gov We need the help of tax professionals in our navigation research study. If you are tax professional, at least 18 years old and not a current employee of the IRS or U.S. Department of the Treasury, you qualify to participate. No personal data will be collected in this study, and there are no right or wrong answers. Begin now by choosing one of the following two links:

Thank you for participating. 6.??Treasury, IRS propose regulations identifying syndicated conservation easement transactions as abusive tax transactions The Treasury Department and the IRS recently issued proposed regulations identifying certain syndicated conservation easement (SCE) transactions as "listed transactions" ? abusive tax transactions that must be reported to the IRS. In these transactions, investors typically acquire an interest in a partnership that owns land and then claim an inflated charitable contribution deduction based on a grossly overvalued appraisal when the partnership donates a conservation easement on the land. 7.??Webinars for tax practitioners Tax pros: Here are some upcoming webinars for the tax practitioner community.
