It's designed to criminalize pregnancy resource centers by providing power to levy fees against them or even shut them down unless they change their policies and make referrals to abortion as part of their services. Marriage Update (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act Passes the U.S. House Thursday, the "Respect for Marriage Act" passed the U.S. House. Not only does this redefine marriage on the federal level to include homosexual unions, it also opens the door to our religious liberties being violated. The changes made by the Senate weren't enough to adequately protect churches and businesses in cases of conscientious objection. "After the House last considered this bill in July, the Senate was forced to make significant changes to the bill.
