CCL Australia: Time to wake up to 'catastrophe unfolding' and price
carbon
The new year began with frightening news coming from Australia: an
unprecedented bushfire season has claimed dozens of human lives,
millions of animal lives, and thousands of homes.
" Tragically, we now have a disaster serious enough to wake up almost
all of us to the catastrophe that is unfolding," said Rod Mitchell, the
national director of CCL Australia.
"Australia needs to know that our government is responding appropriately
to both the immediate emergency and to the climate and ecological crisis
that is escalating before our eyes," Rod said. He and other members of
CCL Australia will continue to push hard for carbon pricing policy to
address the climate change making these fires worse.
"All of us at CCL are keeping our Australian volunteers, their loved
ones, and their entire country in our thoughts during this crisis,"
Executive Director Mark Reynolds said. "We will continue to offer them
love, encouragement and solidarity as we work together to address the
global challenge of climate change."

Lobbying: Sánchez gets CCL holiday greetings
Appreciation is a powerful tool for building relationships with members
of Congress. Over Thanksgiving, CCL members in Rep. Linda Sánchez's
district showed their gratitude for her cosponsorship of the Energy
Innovation Act by sending holiday cards expressing their thanks. Sánchez
acknowledged their gesture in a tweet
[link removed]
: "Thank you @citizensclimate residents in #CA38 for the Thanksgiving
wishes. This year, I'm thankful for all the grassroots energy behind
fighting climate change, protecting our planet for future generations,
and creating the green energy jobs of the future."
