Dear Michigan Democrats,
I want to thank each and everyone of you for your hard work this election cycle. As we reflect on 2022, it's clear that every dollar donated and door knocked made an impact across the state. While Republicans worked to sow hate, Michigan Democrats came together and rejected their extremism.
We worked in all 83 counties and together, we were able to re-elect Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and Attorney General Dana Nessel to office. Our hard work made it possible for Democrats to flip BOTH chambers of the legislature with the House and Senate now under Democratic control for the first time in nearly four decades.
Our historic victories didn’t happen overnight. These wins are the product of years of work and thousands of hours invested by Democrats across the state of Michigan. Now is not the time to rest. The power of a Democratic trifecta in Michigan is going to be unstoppable. We must work together to put our great state on a path to an even better and brighter future.
There is plenty to celebrate, but we also need to turn our attention to the next cycle. We must begin setting the groundwork for 2024. Michigan will be a battleground state during the next presidential election.
I hope you can join us for our February Convention in Detroit. This is the first time as a party we will gather under the new congressional district lines. At the Convention we’ll be electing new district committees and congressional district officers. We’ll also be electing party leadership and members to the Democratic State Central Committee.
I’m asking you to keep working and stay involved. If you haven’t held a party office before, now is a great time to step in. Michigan has a new landscape and now is the time to find your place under this big blue tent .
In Solidarity,

Your presence and vigilance showed those intent on suppressing votes and subverting our democracy that we won’t allow them to succeed. Every action you took will inform future trainings and election strategy. Many of the flags you raised will be shared with clerks to aid their preparations for elections next year and beyond.
The need for voter protection never goes away. The Michigan voter protection team will continue to fight for voters’ rights. We welcome your partnership in the coming months and for what lies ahead in 2024 It was truly a pleasure to serve with you in this enterprise.
Thank you again for being part of our team. Democracy was on the ballot and democracy won!

A Partial Recount of Proposals 2 and 3
As you may have read in the news, earlier this week petitions for a partial state-wide recount of Proposals 2 and 3 were filed with the state. Both proposals passed by well over half a million votes, so a recount is a ridiculous waste of time and money that has zero chance of overturning the election results. It is simply another effort by extremist election deniers to perpetuate the Big Lie and further conspiracy theories about our elections.
The Board of State Canvassers will meet on Monday, December 5 at 2 pm to determine the procedures for the recount and which people/groups will be allowed to have challengers present. Hand recounts of ballots will be conducted in more than 40 counties [[link removed]] , most likely starting on December 7 or 8. In some counties ballots in only a handful of precincts will be recounted, while in others many more precincts will be recounted. After the December 5 meeting, we will provide more information about how the recounts will work and how volunteers can sign up and get trained to be a challenger for the recount.
