Dec. 5: Emerald Ash Borer and other Tree Health Concerns: Update for Cities and Towns

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry will provide an update for city and town tree and forest managers and public works staff on the known status of emerald ash borer [ [link removed] ] in Maine and related state efforts and municipal impacts. In December's update we will also discuss browntail moth, winter moth, hemlock woolly adelgid, red pine scale, and beech leaf disease.
This has been approved for 1.0 credit hour for Maine Licensed Pesticide Applicators and for 1.5 credit hours for Maine Professional Licensed Foresters.?

Join Colleen Teerling, a forest entomologist with the Maine Forest Service, to learn about managing hemlock woolly adelgid, an invasive pest that is spreading and killing trees in Maine. Learn about integrated pest management strategies and what they can and cannot do to protect hemlocks in your forest (as well as more urban settings).

Join the University of Maine's Forest Climate Change Initiative for this field tour on the Massebesic Experimental Forest. Space is limited, registration is required [ [link removed] ]. The?panelist team will guide attendees around exotic species detection, oak thinning, wildfire plans and considerations, shelterwood, group selection, hemlock regeneration, and pests/forest health. Time permitting, there will also be a visit to kettle bogs/paleo sites.?
