This week: 117th Congress begins final weeks, NAFCU continues advocacy ([link removed] )

Today, the 117th Congress begins its final three and a half weeks with major bills still to pass, including the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and a government spending bill to avoid a government shutdown. Also, the Senate Banking Committee holds two hearings this week, a nomination hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and "Fairness in Financial Services: Racism and Discrimination in Banking" on Thursday, Dec. 1.

A new insight post on the NAFCU CFO Network and Compliance, Risk, & BSA Network provides an in-depth recap of a meeting held earlier this month between NAFCU staff, NAFCU member credit unions, representatives from third party service providers, and the NCUA’s Office of Examination and Insurance (E&I) and Division of Capital and Credit Markets. During the meeting, the group discussed ongoing concerns with the net economic value (NEV) supervisory test and the agency’s recent updates to its interest rate risk (IRR) supervisory framework.
