Hi Everyone!
I’m in Washington D.C. this week to meet with our lawmakers who hold the fate of the Boundary Waters in their hands.
As part of Kids for the Boundary Waters, I’ve worked throughout my whole high school and college years to make sure the Wilderness is protected - so I’m no stranger to D.C. advocacy trips! Each time I’m here at the capitol, I tell my story to elected officials so that they understand what makes our Wilderness so special and worth protecting.
I grew up going on canoe trips - I’d spend my days catching and identifying dragonflies, jumping in and out of the water, climbing trees, and wandering – in other words: pure joy . As I got older, I took longer wilderness trips through YMCA Camp Widjiwagan. I attribute much of my curiosity, problem-solving skills, and patience to my time in the Boundary Waters. Wilderness experiences gifted me the opportunity to believe in myself and my capabilities.

I believe in the necessity of preserving this public land for those after me who deserve to experience the joyful bliss and self-empowerment the Boundary Waters has to offer . Please consider the young people of the world and make a matched donation for Give to the Max Day today. [[link removed]]
I got involved with Kids for the Boundary Waters because I wanted to share my concern about copper mining in this uniquely clean, water-rich environment, and I wanted to work toward helping other youth gain the skills and confidence to speak up for what they believe in.
The Wilderness cultivates an incredible community of people who choose to live here for the unparalleled access to the outdoors. They are supported by a thriving tourism and service economy that wouldn’t be possible if copper mining were to occur here. And this wilderness edge community continues to attract entrepreneurs, remote workers, and people like me who choose to live in tune with the benefits of this truly unique landscape. Please join me in the fight toward clean water and a sustainable economy in the Boundary Waters region and make a gift today.
