Hi Everyone!
I’m in Washington D.C. this week to meet with our lawmakers who hold the fate of the Boundary Waters in their hands.
As part of Kids for the Boundary Waters, I’ve worked throughout my whole high school and college years to make sure the Wilderness is protected - so I’m no stranger to D.C. advocacy trips! Each time I’m here at the capitol, I tell my story to elected officials so that they understand what makes our Wilderness so special and worth protecting.
I grew up going on canoe trips - I’d spend my days catching and identifying dragonflies, jumping in and out of the water, climbing trees, and wandering – in other words: pure joy. As I got older, I took longer wilderness trips through YMCA Camp Widjiwagan. I attribute much of my curiosity, problem-solving skills, and patience to my time in the Boundary Waters. Wilderness experiences gifted me the opportunity to believe in myself and my capabilities.
