John,

Holding COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, has sharpened the focus on Africa's
role in the fight against global climate change.

While countries across the continent are exceptionally vulnerable to climate
disasters, Africa is also home to abundant clean energy potential that could
power growth without dirty coal plants.

In our latest COP27 video, Ailun Yang from our Environment program looks at
Bloomberg Philanthropies' work to accelerate clean energy in Africa.

In Africa and across the Global South, countries that have done the least to
contribute to climate change are now facing some of the greatest risks. One of
the most important discussion points at COP27 is how the world can support
climate action that is inclusive and beneficial to developing nations.

It's an issue Bloomberg Philanthropies has been working on with partners
across Africa. As COP27 began, Mike stood alongside African leaders to share a
plan that will help move the world beyond coal, by turbocharging clean energy
finance in the Global South.
