As of today, we’ve tracked 170 lawsuits filed in 2022 across 35 states. 102 of these lawsuits are currently active and ongoing. Of the lawsuits, three are likely to have important rulings before Election Day. (That number is down from seven yesterday, as four outstanding cases had updates today. Here are some updates from today.
A judge ordered Dutchess County, New York to open a polling place on Vassar College's campus for the 2022 midterm elections after a lawsuit argued that the county failed to comply with its legal duty to designate an on-campus polling location. [link removed]
The Michigan Supreme Court paused a lower court's decision to block Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's (D) rules regulating the behavior of partisan election challengers. Benson's guidance is back in effect. [link removed]
A judge approved an agreement between CASA, a nonprofit civil rights organization focused on Pennsylvania’s immigrant and Latino communities, and the board of elections in York County, Pennsylvania to expand Spanish-language election materials and assistance for the midterm elections. A Nevada judge denied a request from the Republican National Committee to compel the Clark County Board of Elections to add more Republicans to its poll worker roster. [link removed]
