Friends,
In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a contribution to support
my friend Peter Welch’s campaign to join me as Vermont’s other U.S.
Senator. But first, let me tell you why he’s a progressive champion worth
supporting.
Peter left college to organize against racist housing discrimination in
Chicago, which set him on the path to a lifetime of political activism.
When he graduated from law school, many of his classmates went to Wall
Street or K Street. Instead, he moved to Bridge Street in rural Vermont
and became one of the county’s first public defenders.
He served in the statehouse for over a decade and has been serving in
Congress alongside me since 2006. In the House, he’s been fighting for a
Green New Deal, Medicare for All and lower prescription drug costs.
Peter is exactly the kind of progressive champion we need in the
Senate. So I am asking:
