John,
Are you as burned out on fundraising emails as I am? It is seriously
overwhelming looking at my inbox, especially during end-of-month or
quarter deadlines. I feel like I can’t hit the unsubscribe button fast
enough but still, they keep flooding in.
These emails all sound the same – you know the ones from establishment
Democrat groups that have no real substance and always use panic, despair,
and fear to supposedly “motivate” you to donate — it's exhausting and
makes me feel apathetic and jaded.
It makes me sad to think that our emails might not be getting seen because
everyone is so overloaded with scammy, dishonest fundraising emails like
this:
“We are doomed, the polls say we’re going to lose and democracy itself
will crumble unless you donate today. It will be 3x matched!”
At DFA, we know that there is a better way and will never lie about
completely fabricated donation matching. We look at the emails we send to
you differently because we look at our members differently.
You are more than just an email address to us. You are a real person, not
a blank check. We know that you work hard and we don’t take it for granted
when you choose to donate your hard-earned dollars to our work and
movement.
I hope you know that you are making a difference and you are appreciated.
We at Democracy for America have been supporting progressive candidates
for 18 years. We were founded by Howard Dean in 2004 and are proud to say
thousands of people that donate and volunteer with us have been part of
the DFA Family since the very beginning.
This year, [ [link removed] ]we have endorsed 98 incredible candidates and are working
closely with these campaigns by coordinating directly with them so we can
expand the footprint of each candidate, covering fresh ground.
I want so badly for everyone to get to know these brave leaders and be
inspired by them and feel hopeful about our future.
We don't waste resources duplicating work that's already been done and all
the data we collect is shared directly with campaigns, providing them with
the critical voter contact information they need to Get Out The Vote.
Just one example of the work we do is our Mail Our Way to the Midterms
Project, which is fighting to Flip the South by engaging voters that are
too often forgotten and left behind. DFA members have sent 200,000 voters
postcards and our text-out-the-vote team will follow up with a
get-out-the-vote text as well, increasing the chances that these voters
will turn out even more by making two contacts with them before election
day.
This is just a brief preview of the DFA difference and I will wrap this up
by saying this:
[ [link removed] ]If you are able to donate, we appreciate it and will put it right to
work getting out the vote in these remaining days for our awesome endorsed
candidates. Can't donate right now? That's cool too. We still appreciate
you!
[ [link removed] ]Want to volunteer instead? Great! We have lots of volunteer
opportunities and we would love for you to join us. One opportunity is our
[ [link removed] ]final member meeting next Tuesday where you can learn how to get
plugged in during the final GOTV week. Don’t have time to volunteer? We
understand! We know how busy life can get.
The most impactful and important thing you can do to support this movement
is simple. Vote! Want to double or triple your impact? Bring a friend or
family member to the polls with you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you ever have any questions
or ideas, or just want to talk about the issues please don’t hesitate to
reach out.
I hope you have a great week,
Molly Goldberg
