As of today, Democracy Docket tracked 156 lawsuits filed in 2022 across 34 states. 96 of these lawsuits are currently active and ongoing. Of the active lawsuits, 38 seek to restrict access to voting.
Here are some updates from today.
Two right-wing groups named in a voter intimidation lawsuit brought by the League of Women Voters of Arizona announced they would abandon their plan to monitor drop boxes. [link removed]
Yesterday, there was a hearing in federal court in a case challenging alleged voter intimidation by Clean Elections USA, another right-wing group behind vigilante drop box "monitoring" in Arizona. Get a detailed summary of what happened. [link removed]
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other New York Democrats filed a petition in court to compel the Albany County Board of Elections to process absentee ballots for counting on Oct. 28 as required by New York law. The board and its Republican commissioner are currently refusing to do so. [link removed]
