Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other New York Democrats filed a petition in court to compel the Albany County Board of Elections to process absentee ballots for counting on Oct. 28 as required by New York law. The board and its Republican commissioner are currently refusing to do so.
