Double your impact in the fight for gender justice — show up now. [[link removed] [[link removed]]
Dear John,
It is gut-wrenching to hear a fast food worker earning an unlivable wage talk about unwanted touching, taunting, and so much worse — and how they feel no one is there to support them.
As the director of TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, which is housed and administered by the National Women’s Law Center Fund, I hear far too many stories of sexual harassment by perpetrators who think they can get away with it because they deem their target unimportant and powerless.
It makes me incredibly angry — but most of all, it makes me fired up to fight back.
If you think everyone should have safe and dignified workplaces, John, then I hope you’ll join me in making an urgent donation that turns that anger into action , hope, and justice — for every single person who has put up with far too much, for far too long. Please, make a year-end gift to the National Women’s Law Center and your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar to help power our courtroom battles, support those seeking justice, and so much more. Of course, it’s not just low-wage fast food workers who endure a barrage of sexual demands, sexually charged comments, or insults regarding their bodies and appearance. It happens in every industry. It happens everywhere. And, workers who have the courage to speak up face retaliation — ranging from their shifts and salaries being cut, to being fired altogether.
It’s unacceptable. And that’s why we developed the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund and the Legal Network For Gender Equity. We support the thousands of courageous women who have come forward at great risk to themselves, to ask for our help in calling out their harassers, to seek the justice they deserve, and to protect others from similar behavior.
Because no worker — at any job — should ever have to endure abuse for a paycheck.
Right now, when you make a donation to the National Women’s Law Center, you are supporting work like this — and so much more. I hope you’ll give generously as possible right now, while we have a matching gift that ensures your contribution goes twice as far. [[link removed]]
Together, we can end discrimination so that people of every race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender identity and income level are safe on the job. We can level the playing field so that every person has equal opportunity for economic success and security, giving all workers a voice and a seat at the leadership table. But to do this, we need you with the National Women’s Law Center.
On behalf of my team, thank you for your support of workers and women everywhere — who desperately need to know that if they speak up, people will be there for them.
Sincerely,
Sharyn Tejani
Director, TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund
