Forest fires in the Brazilian Amazon reached their highest levels in over a decade earlier this month. This latest surge in one of the world’s largest tropical rainforests is part of a troubling pattern: WRI analysis finds that forest fires are burning nearly twice as much forest today as they did 20 years ago.
