John, the Civil Rights Act clearly prohibits disenfranchising voters for minor errors that are not "material" to determining whether the voter is qualified to vote.

But yesterday, the far-right majority on the U.S. Supreme Court decided a date written on the outside envelope of a ballot and other minor errors like it are grounds to disenfranchise eligible voters.

That makes this already concerning headline even worse:

Unresolved gray areas in Pa. mail voting law likely to spur fresh confusion, legal challenges -- The Philadelphia Inquirer

John, they did this with the strict understanding that their ruling could affect the outcome of this year’s elections. This makes our mission even more critical. Can you chip in $10 today to help us expand the Commonwealth’s electorate beyond the margins they can disenfranchise for these nonsense issues?

The PA GOP is exploiting their legislative majority to stop any progress on commonsense mail voting laws — all so they can spread misinformation and seize on the gray areas as an excuse to disenfranchise the Commonwealth’s voters.

And remember, attacks against mail voting disproportionately disenfranchise young voters and voters of color, who are significantly more likely to have their legitimate, on-time mail-in ballots rejected.

It’s the very issue the provision of the Civil Rights Act we mentioned was enacted to avoid.

John, we need to get ahead of these attacks. Will you donate $10 right now to help us prepare the Commonwealth’s communities of youth, immigrants, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color to make their voices heard no matter what method works best for them?

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in underrepresented immigrant communities and communities of color. We register communities to vote, provide civic education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize Pennsylvanians to vote in every election.
